![]() ![]() We arrived at Battery Park at 1145.waited until 1215 when there suddenly was a line for the shuttle. When we inquired about being able to get on that shuttle, we were told we absolutely would make it.well.this is what happened. We left Times Square at 930 am and still missed the 1130 shuttle. The second day, we set out for the cruise around the harbor. The driver had a fan, but there was no relief for the passengers.no one cared about the older people on the lower level. It was 90 degrees- the windows do not open and there was no air conditioning. The steps are steep to get to the top of the bus, so she chose to stay on the bottom level. There were tour guides that were informative the first day, but there was still alot of walking involved as the bus stops were rigid and not very close to most attractions. We chose the hop on hop off Green line so that she could see NYC with little walking. Last Sunday we visited NYC with my aunt that had difficulty walking. Or make use of Big Bus bus tours, we made use of them in Miami and they were great! I hope the review helps! Definitely make use of the red Gray Line bus tours, they have a big fleet of busses and seem efficient. To conclude, do not use City Sights NY Hop on Hop off- tour busses. Lastly we weren't well informed about ferry trips that the bus service organize, when on our way to a ferry, we found out that the last one had already left (it would have been informative information if we knew what times the ferrys were leaving, but they did not provide us with that information). One bus that we got on, didn't even have ponchos for the guests, so when it started raining, we became soaked (and couldn't even move downstairs, because there was no downstairs at all! All the guide could say was, "We didn't think it would rain". The busses are messy downstairs, it does not seemed that they are being cleaned properly. On another ride, the guide so badly insisted on leaving a tip, that no one wanted to do it (a tip must come from feeling that you received good service, not from being forced to give one). We also had an encounter with a guide who yelled and seared at the guests, at us, which is unexceptable. Then we had a horrible time trying to get on the bus, we were standing in the front of the queue to get on and then we were chased away by a bus guide to a different queue that someone else created (note that we actually stood by the bus, when everyone else still sat on the benches, and thereafter got chased away when others created a new queue). ![]() Once we waited for over 40 mins for the bus (they claim the busses arrive every 20 minutes), so their fleet is little. Had a terrible experience (yes, there were positive aspects, but very few). Whatever you do, do not make use of the Blue City Sights Hop on Hop off- busses. Cabs are cheap in America and may be another good option as well as the metro. Without the VIP pass (which also gives you priority for getting on the bus) I think we would have been disappointed with the buses. Told us the photo ops in advance and was funny and informative. The guides name was Deborah Blau and she was the best we had in Nyc. It was on grayline and e had a fabulous driver and guide. Our sunaet tour was a highlight of our trip. It is great to have the option of day and night tours. The guides are variable- Some excellent and some not so good. We found the grayline buses were better than the blue Nyc sightseeing- the buses seemed to be emptier and had a top and bottom. We paid an extra $25 for a VIP pass which gave us a code of the 2 bus lines. The hop on hop off buses can be a good way to see the attractions But in peak season the buses can be full from the first stop and so they do not stop for anymore passengers. ![]()
